We want people with swallowing difficulties to enjoy a meal again, at the table with everyone else, with dignity.

Our food is made to help people eat well and feel well. It also makes mealtimes easier for the people who care for them.

Handmade in ClonakiltyWest Cork, since 2021

Started in 2021, by a chef who wanted better food on the plate.

Niamh is a dysphagia chef. She started Ocras in 2021 because the food on offer for people with swallowing and chewing difficulties was so limited.

She worked closely with Teagasc at Ashtown, and with dietitians and speech and language therapists. Together they developed and tested every recipe for safe use with the IDDSI Framework, and designed food moulds and recyclable packaging that shape and protect each dish. Every product is still made by hand.

Ocras was the first Irish company to apply for and achieve SALSA accreditation, a food safety standard for small food producers.

Niamh also runs dysphagia and IDDSI training through Dining with Dignity.

What goes into every dish.

Every recipe was tested for safe use with the IDDSI Framework. Each portion is made to the same texture every time.
